4. CIVIL RIGHTS THROUGH THE LENS OF HIP-HOP

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Florida presents to you an intimate conversation on civil rights, criminal justice reform, LGBT rights, and other issues impacting the African American community through the lens of Jay-Z’s iconic album, “4:44.” There will be a panelist discussion, comprised of those that have been making a social impact on the South Florida community. Black Lounge Film Series is a monthly film showcase, which brings award-winning Black films and its directors to Historic Overtown, Miami creating a hub for the most talented filmmakers, legendary and thought-provoking films about the African Diaspora experience. This Friday, join BLFS with a special screening of Sammy Davis Jr.: I’ve Gotta Be Me.

Black Professionals Network is supporting Make the Homeless Smile (MTHS) as their February charity of choice and requesting members and supporters lend their time to make the homeless smile. MTHS’s Smile Day Anniversary will service two locations, Downtown Miami, and Overtown. You can make a difference by volunteering and donating items that are much needed by the homeless.
