10 Raleigh-Durham Events For Black Professionals This Week

1. DURHAM HOTEL: FAT TUESDAY ON THE ROOF
Tuesday, February 13, 2018; 5:00 p.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Head to the Durham Hotel’s rooftop to celebrate Fat Tuesday with music from the Al Strong Music Septet, New Orleans-style gumbo, Sazeracs, Abita beer from the bar, and hurricanes and party favors from Bedlam Vodka. The rooftop opens at 5:00 p.m. and the music starts at 6:00 p.m. Learn more HERE.

2. DURHAM MARDI GRAS FAT TUESDAY 2018
Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Downtown Durham will be buzzing this week with the finest music, food, and culture in celebration of Mardi Gras. With party stops, including the CCB Plaza and Blue Note Grill, the town will be jumping all night long. Learn more HERE.

3. THE POLITICS OF BLACK HAIR: EXHIBITION OPENING RECEPTION
Tuesday, February 13, 2018, 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Attend the opening reception for “The Politics of Hair” exhibit at N.C. State University’s African American Cultural Center’s Gallery. The exhibit celebrates and centers the experiences of black hair stories, and will be on display from February 13 to March 16. Learn more HERE.

4. UNSCRIPTED DURHAM & BEDLAM VODKA: VALENTINE’S DAY APHRODISIAC TASTING
Wednesday, February 14, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Gather your girls, or boo, for a five-course tasting inspired by aphrodisiac foods with cocktails prepared by Bedlam Vodka. DJ Mic Check will be in the building to curate the perfect “lovetrack” for the evening. Learn more HERE.

5. HAYTI HERITAGE FILM FESTIVAL 2018
Thursday, February 15, 2018 – Saturday, February 17, 2018
Celebrate one of the nation’s longest-running Black film festivals in Durham. This year’s festival highlights include must-watch films such as, “See You Yesterday,” executive produced by Spike Lee; “Beyond All,” Durhamite Isaac Green’s NYU Tisch School of the Arts senior thesis; Ricky Kelly’s documentary on two biker weeks, “Black Beach/White Beach”; and much more! 6. BLACK PANTHER TAKEOVER AT THE VAULT
Friday, February 16, 2018, 7:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Get ready for the ultimate Wakanda turn-up, beginning with a pre-game at the Vault followed by a private viewing of the much anticipated-film “Black Panther” at AMC Southpoint in Durham. 7. THE GIRLFRIENDS POD: BEAUTY BASH
Saturday, February 17, 2018, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

8. THE LUX BLOG: THE MEETUP SINGLES MIXER 2018
Saturday, February 17, 2018, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Calling all singles! Mix and mingle for a good cause – to help support scholarships for high school seniors. A mini-charity dating auction of eligible single men will also be held, where all the proceeds will fund scholarships, so bring your wallet. Donations are tax-deductible. Learn more HERE.

9. UGC BEAT BATTLE
Saturday, February 17, 2018, 9:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
The ultimate beat battle in the Triangle area returns to the Pinhook, now sponsored by Moog Music Inc. and with bigger and better prizes for the winner. 10. CISCO RTP CONNECTED BLACK PROFESSIONALS MASQUERADE BALL
Saturday, February 17, 2018, 6:00 p.m. -12:00 a.m.
Hopefully, you have already purchased your ticket to one of the most talked about black tie events of the season because it’s sold out! A portion of the proceeds from the ball will support scholarships for HBCU students.
