1. POETRY IN CONTEXT
Wednesday, February 21, 2018, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Check out Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse for this “encuentro” (encounter/finding) with the powerful writer and scholar, Dr. Eve L. Ewing. More than just a poetry performance or an academic lecture, Dr. Ewing will read several poems from her book Electric Arches, as well as other works, but she will also draw on her knowledge and work as a sociologist to make connections to topics in race, history, gender, and contemporary events. 2. PLASTIC CUP BOYZ

4. A BEAUTIFUL THANG: BLACK ARTS SALON

You’re invited to the African American Museum in Philadelphia for a can’t-miss Black music and poetry salon. Inspired by the artistic spirit and salons of the Harlem Renaissance, A Beautiful Thang brings together some of the city’s most exciting jazz and performance artists on one stage, for one night only. 5. DVSN: MORNING AFTER WORLD TOUR

7. CELEBRATION OF AFRICAN CULTURES
Saturday, February 24, 2018, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
What better way to end your Black History Month than at the 29th annual Celebration of African Cultures hosted by Penn Museum. There is a whole schedule of events during the day: an African marketplace, a mancala game station, local storytellers and artists leading guests in an interactive exploration of traditions from across the African continent, and more. 8. AMANDA SEALES
Monday, February 26, 2018, 8:00 p.m.
Our favorite character to hate from the hit HBO tv-show Insecure, Amanda Seales is coming to bless Philly with some laughs. Just to know what she’s been up to, she’s performed stand up across the globe and toured colleges doing comedic lectures on everything from sexism and diversity to black popular culture. 9. KELELA
Tuesday, February 27, 2018, 8:30 p.m
Kelela can’t get enough of Philly, it seems, as she returns for another show. If you didn’t catch her the first time or if you did, and you just love her that much, check her out at the TLA. 10. A$AP FERG: MAD MAN TOUR
Wednesday, February 28, 2018, 8:00 p.m.
A$AP Ferg and the rest of the A$AP Mob wrapped their collective tour just last month. Now, Ferg has set himself up with a nationwide tour of his own. He’s kicking the tour off in the best city, Philly, and taking Denzel Curry and IDK along for the ride, a journey, they’re calling the Mad Man Tour. Learn more HERE.
