4. ROXBURY FILM FESTIVAL: FILMS BY AFRICAN-AMERICAN WOMEN

The Brattle is excited to help kick-off the 20-year celebration of the Roxbury International Film Festival with this co-curated program. From 1982’s pioneering “Losing Control” to the recent Oscar-nominated hit “Selma”, it’s clear that African American women have a unique, though frequently overlooked, voice within cinema. 5. THE GRAND: CHRISTMAS PARTY

Celebrate the holiday season in style with the Grammy-nominated artist, DJ Jazzy Jeff at The Grand. On Thursday, December 14, gather a group of your fellow industry pros and head over to The Grand as DJ Jazzy Jeff brings his special “Holiday Mix” and flawless turntable skills to the dance floor. 6. BLACK NATIVITY EVENT

Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity, a joyous account of the nativity, is a true Christmastime tradition, and National Center of Afro-American Artists’ captivating production is the longest-running performance of the Harlem Renaissance poet’s song-play in the world. 7. BOSTON EBONY GALA
