10 Detroit Events For Black Professionals This Week

1. KRISPY ROLL AT LAGER HOUSE
Tuesday, February 6, 2018, 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.
Krispy Roll is going to be back at the Lager House for their pop up series. They are known for creative egg roll features including the Detroit fave the Corned Beef Egg Roll. I get happy just thinking about it. Don’t worry they have vegetarian and vegan options too. Learn more HERE. 

2. HOMEGOING: A CONVERSATION WITH YAA GYASI
Tuesday, February 6, 2018, 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.
If you haven’t read “Homegoing” you have just enough time to cop it, read it and head to Ann Arbor to meet this dynamic black author. Gyasi’s award-winning debut novel “Homegoing” follows the parallel paths of two half-sisters and their descendants through eight generations: from the Gold Coast to the plantations of Mississippi, from the American Civil War to Jazz Age Harlem. Learn more HERE. 

3. EMPOWERHER PITCH COMPETITION
Wednesday, February 7, 2018, 5:15 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.
Please join Michigan Women’s Foundation, in partnership with Ford Motor Company Fund, as the twelve social entrepreneur finalists in the ideation, launch and growth categories pitch for cash prizes, investments, and professional services. Chinonye Akunne and Alecia Gabriel, the creators of Motor City STEAM, will be among those competing. And quite frankly they are the most deserving. Learn more HERE.

4. DJ GOOD BOI PRESENTS THURZDAY NIGHT VIBEZ
Thursday, February 8, 2018, 6:00 p.m.- 12:00 a.m.
Starting February 8th, 2018 Dj GoodB.O.I. begins his first residency of 2018 at Truth Music Cafe! #ThurzdayNightVibez featuring a different genre of music every week! Opening night will be music from the early 2000’s only!! Everyone free with RSVP! $10 without RSVP! Dress Code is Semi-Formal/Dressy Casual. 6. AMERICAN BALLET THEATER: ROMEO AND JULIET
Thursday, February 8, 2018, 7:30 p.m.- 10:30 p.m.

7. MY LIFE. MY STORY! CENTERING THE VOICES OF TRANS LIVES
Thursday, February 8, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The W.M. Trotter Multicultural Center is honored to be centering the voices of transgender and non-binary individuals at our lecture, with a particular focus on the intersecting identities of gender and race. Featuring Janet Mock, author of “Redefining Realness and Surpassing Certainty,” Amiyah Scott of Fox Network’s STAR, and Brian Michael Smith Trans Actor (OWN Network’s Queen Sugar, Chicago P.D., and HBO’s Girls), and Ann Arbor Native. 8. WEEKEND OF J DILLA
Friday, February 9, 2018 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. to Sunday, February 11, 2018, 8:00 p.m.
There are so many ways that Black professionals can be apart of this dope weekend celebrating the Detroit legend, including going to Dilla Crates at Drive Table Tennis Social Club, volunteering a Dilla Youth Day, or attending the musical celebration at the Charles H. Wright. Learn more HERE.

9. YOGA FLOW FEAT MIGUEL
Saturday, February 10, 2018, 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.

10. ROMANCE AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP SERIES
